Lucas Marqus
Lucas is an associate at Savards LLP. He practices criminal and regulatory law at the trial and appellate levels. Lucas is dedicated to providing high-quality, thoughtful, and creative representation for his clients, while maintaining a critical perspective on the criminal justice system.
Before joining Savards LLP, Lucas clerked at the Superior Court of Justice in the Central South Region. While clerking, he assisted judges with trials for murder, firearms, drug trafficking, and sexual offences. He also worked on civil and family law matters, including statutory appeals and judicial reviews before the Divisional Court.
Lucas graduated on the Dean’s List from TMU’s Lincoln Alexander School of Law. Throughout law school, he was a teaching and research assistant in constitutional law, the law of evidence, and family law. He holds an HBA in English from the University of Toronto, Trinity College, where he received the John Pettigrew and George Gray Falle scholarships.
Lucas is a committed legal advocate for individuals from working-class, racialized, and queer communities. In law school, he worked at a non-profit that provides pro bono legal support to unions, protestors, and community organizers. He has also worked on a Charter challenge relating to gender-affirming healthcare access and assisted 2SLGBTQ+ refugee claimants with their applications.
Lucas is a member of the Criminal Lawyers’ Association and the Law Union of Ontario.
